Amtrak, the largest passenger railroad service in the U.S., operates the train from Tampa to Orlando. The two Floridian cities are on the Silver Service line, composed of two trains, Silver Meteor and Silver Bullet.

The Silver Service is a long-distance Amtrak service connecting New York and Miami and serving many smaller cities, including Orlando and Tampa. All trains have sleeping cars, although you may not be interested in this option since the train ride to cross the Florida peninsula is only around three hours. Both Silver Service trains have Viewliner sleeping cars, with the possibility of booking a smaller roomette or a more comfortable bedroom. Still, unlike the Silver Star, the Silver Meteor has a dining car, which also means that the sleeping cars get inclusive room service

If you opt for the sleeping car, keep in mind that you need to book the entire unit, whether alone or with someone. Also, the coach has comfortable reclining seats, perfect for getting some shut-eye, so give it a chance.

In Tampa, you will start your journey on the only Amtrak station in town, Union Station, located at 601 N Nebraska Ave, in the Channel district. The station is simple, conveniently set close to several car rental agencies, and has a parking lot. The Amtrak Thruway Bus serves the station, and the Greyhound buses serve the bus terminal only five miles away. 

In Orlando, there are two options for how to end your journey.

1. The central Orlando Amtrak station, 1400 Sligh Blvd, is a beautiful historical building from the 1920s that offers the convenient service of checked baggage and free overnight parking. Unfortunately, it needs to be better connected, especially if you are going to Disney World. In that case, the Kissimmee station would be a better option. The city center, Universal studio, and Disney World are approximately 10 miles away, but the only way to reach them is by taxi (Uber, Lyft)
2. Silver service and the local Floridan Sun Rail are serving Kissimmee station. There is no parking available, but several car rental companies are at the station. It is located in the historic city center and close to Disneyworld, but you will still need an Uber or a Lyft to get there.

Orlando is one giant theme park. Besides the previously mentioned Disney World, it is also home to Seaworld, Legoland, Universal Studios, and site-specific Gatorworld, making Orlando a dream destination for families and everybody else. But if you are interested in something more sophisticated, we recommend checking out Winter Park and Thornton Park, Orlando's trendy neighborhoods, for some shopping and fine dining.
